Storytime details

Sometimes when you look around, when you stop to take in your surroundings, you see details that have been left there by the powers that be. Some are huge, and some are so surprising you can’t help but break into a smile.

I was at Argent Mine, yesterday, and a few lifetimes ago. This wasn’t the first time I noticed them, hanging in their eternal loft. Whatever it was that killed them, they seemed to die happy, or in horror. I’ll never know.

Dreary Glenumbra on a Frostfall evening

Near Daggerfall, Glenumbra sings of the sun, the dewy grass invigorating in its welcoming scent. Further north, however, near the old town of Aldcroft, a different scene emerges – dead trees tired of life, and air so thick with burdened anticipation you can see it with your eyes. A lone light shines in the dark, marking a path to safety.

Skywatch, Auridon

Atop a bridge in Auridon, Daro-tarashi looks to see the sun setting on this beautiful city located in the east of Auridon. A perfect semblance of order and symmetry in these once-ancient lands makes Tarashi happy.

Misty morning in Wrothgar

The air sizzles in anticipation of the day ahead. The ice crackles, the bears roar. In the distance, thunder. I wash my face in the steady stream and wonder… What is that sound of heavy metal clanking behind me?

The Shifting Sands of the Alik’r

The sun burns slow in the Alik’r Desert. I feel the sand against my skin, drawing the moisture from my tired body. I must move before the night falls. The coyotes come.

ESO – The Matron’s Clutch, Stonefalls

screenshot_20160721_222908It was only after the battle that I had time to look at the night sky where Masser and Secunda were, ensconced in their starry embrace. The smell of sea salt mingled with the blood of the Dreugh as their broodmother lay slain. I hadn’t noticed that the corals glowed.

ESO – Story Time, Cyrodiil

In a somewhat remote spot of Cyrodiil, a mage has arranged a family of skeletons around a campfire. He has made sure all of them have their heads and are suitably warm. I wonder what tales are being told.

ESO – End of the Road

Sometimes, while on the road, and if we’re not going too fast, we trundle past makeshift campsites. Frequently, they are abandoned, but sometimes you see what happened as the person lay asleep. Not able to do anything since they have been long dead, the only thing we can do is to remind ourselves to stand guard, always, lest we suffer the same fate.

ESO – Carvings in Wrothgar

The carving is one of many found in Wrothgar. Who carved them? They look nothing like the monkeys we see in the wild, and surely the ogres do not have such sophistication that such dexterity requires. Could it be the Tang Mo left them long ago?

Sunrise in Grahtwood

You can almost smell the morning sun, mingled in the soft dew of the foliage. The water rushes, and the sounds of the living begin to fill the air. Somewhere near, the inhabitants of Grahtwood discuss the beginnings of the day, vaguely aware that some end might come to bear but helpless to prevent it. Life ,as they know it, goes on when the nightmare that clings to them each night washes off with the rising dawn.
